Saurav is an alumnus of Questrom’s MBA & MSDT program. See how Questrom prepared him for his career as a Senior Program Manager at Amazon.
Q: What did you like most about the program?
A: I was in the MBA+MSDT program, and if you ask me, my answers would
definitely be the professors, they were the best, and my fellow teammates.
Working with them was extremely exciting.
Q: How did your Questrom education prepare you for your current role?
A: While working at Amazon, strategy plays the most important role. Questrom taught me how to reach out to people. Being an international student from
India, the most important classes to me were those based on organization behavior. They helped me tremendously to adjust to the workplace environment at Amazon.
Q: What was your experience like when you participated in team competitions in Questrom?
A: The first team competition was a shock. But what was important to me was how much I learned from it. People from different countries behave differently, which helped me understand that everyone has a different background and perspective.
Q: What is the most rewarding or challenging part of your job?
A: Working at Amazon, every day is tough. The people are supportive, but the
ask is a lot. However, it is rewarding because I go back and see something that seemed unachievable, knowing I did it, and presented it to the VP as well.
Q: Give some advice on how to build a network.
A: Building a network is a difficult adjustment especially if you are not used to networking. I wasn’t, but I changed that, and it got me an amazing internship at General Electric. Some advice I can give is that it is important to know to not ask favors right away, just ask people about their experience and journey.
Q: Please share how you engaged in the Questrom community.
A: I was the VP of the Consulting Club and a part of many case competitions that we won. My advice would be to participate in as many events as you can, even if you are marginalized in that group.
Q: Why did you choose BU and Questrom for your education?
A: Faculty! There were some gems, especially professors like Venkat and McManus. Also being able to get my dual degree was awesome.
