HBO is entering the streaming wars on Wednesday with the introduction of HBO Max, its on-demand streaming platform. The New York Times says that the “late entrant” in a crowded field where Netflix mostly dominates hopes to have 50 million subscribers by 2025. Parent company AT&T plans to spend over $4.5 billion on it in the next few years. HBO Max launches with the likes of HBO series such as “Game of Thrones” and “Succession” as well as sitcoms like “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory.” It will charge customers $15 a month, compared to Netflix’s $9 or $7 for Disney Plus.
