Humanity is staring the climate crisis in the face, and we’re only just preparing for the fight. Public awareness around the rapidly declining health of our planet has improved in recent years, thanks in part to the hugely popular school strikes and Extinction Rebellion protests, and in spite of certain world leaders denying there is anything wrong. But without urgent, assertive action at an international level, increasing awareness means nothing.
The challenges facing the renewable energy industry today are complex and deeply seated in society, including political pressures, corporate influence, and antiquated infrastructure. Despite these barriers, however, renewable technology is quickly becoming a viable alternative to fossil fuels, and significant global adoption could help to mitigate the more drastic and immediate effects of climate change.
